I offer professional training for people who work in addiction and recovery — for recovery coaches and recovery specialists, for professionals who want to learn intervention work, and for sober transporters. The training is practical and supervised: you learn by doing, with real casework and direct feedback, so you can use what you learn straight away with clients and families.
Your trainer
Janique Svedberg — Substance Use Disorder Therapist, CPRA, CMC. I am a certified interventionist and a certified trainer of the Inspirational Intervention method, and I have trained interventionists and recovery coaches across Europe. I work with clients and families all over the world, and I teach from that everyday practice, not only from theory.
Recovery Coach / Recovery Specialist Training — 5 days
This five-day intensive program is for you who want to work as a recovery coach or recovery specialist, or who want to formalise the work you already do. You will learn:
- The role of the recovery coach, and how it differs from therapy, sponsorship, and case management
- Strengths-based coaching: helping clients build on what they already have
- Coaching skills you can use directly with clients and families
- Ethics, boundaries, and professional practice
- How to support clients through the stages of recovery, including setbacks
- Working with families, and with treatment teams
The training combines teaching with supervised practice, so you leave with skills you have actually used, not only heard about.
Intervention Training — 4 days
This four-day intensive program teaches a structured way of working with families in crisis, from the first call to aftercare:
- First contact — how families reach out, and how to respond
- Assessment — understanding the situation and the family system
- Planning — who takes part, where and when, and what happens after a yes
- Preparation — rehearsing the family and handling objections
- The intervention — a structured, calm, and compassionate meeting
- Handover — transport, admission, and the critical first days
- Aftercare — supporting the family through early recovery
You practise each stage with supervision and case discussion throughout, so you can carry out an intervention with confidence and care.
Sober Transportation Training — 2 days
Sober transportation is about much more than a ride to and from treatment. It is having a sober, steady person with you in real life — on a business trip, a family trip, or any occasion where staying sober feels hard. A sober transporter travels with you, keeps you accountable, and helps you through the moments that used to lead back to drinking or using, so you can stay present for your life instead of being controlled by it. That kind of support can be vital — and life-changing.
This two-day training teaches you how to do that work professionally: safe and planned transport to and from treatment, sober companionship on trips and in everyday life, clear boundaries, and respect for the client’s dignity — so you can be the steady person someone leans on when it matters most.
Who the training is for
- Therapists and clinicians who want intervention competence in their toolkit
- Recovery coaches who want to formalise their practice
- Family practitioners who guide families from crisis to a structured plan
- Admissions and treatment professionals who want to win more admissions by understanding the journey clients arrive through
- Career changers who want to turn lived experience into a profession
- Treatment centers that need proper interventions and recovery specialists in their aftercare plan
How the training works
Small groups, real casework, and direct feedback. Classes run with a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 20 people. This is a working training, not a lecture series. Contact me for upcoming dates and places, or to bring a training to your team.
